Zulekha Hospital in UAE launches Covid recovery clinic
There are a lot of different symptoms surrounding the novel severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS COV 2) and therefore medical and health care professionals have been regarding this new disease as a mixture of many diseases. Even after putting up months of untiring fight and dedicated efforts, the healthcare providers haven’t been able to come up with a definitive diagnosis, pathogenesis, and treatment plan.
From person to person
According to
them, the treatment plan and disease outcome varies from person to person and
many factors play a part in this. One of the most important factors is the
immune system. People with weakened immune system such as those with diabetes
or other immune related disorders are known to be at a greater risk of being
affected by this disease. These are the same people that if get affected, can
display severe signs and symptoms.
What about other diseases?
There are
many people out there who still don’t believe in the authenticity of this
pandemic and raise questions about incidence of other diseases. Surely media
has been reporting only on Covid but of course, it’s only natural of humans to
leap towards something that is new and intriguing. So, other diseases are still
out there and have been affecting people at the same rate but its only Covid
that is being reported to ensure that we are properly tackling the pandemic.
What’s happening?
With a new
disease every year our hospital beds do remain almost full at any time of year
but due to this pandemic our health facilities and outpatient department have
been badly hit. It has become really difficult to accommodate and treat
patients coming in with other diseases. In order to step up, we can always wash
hands with bar
soap and water for 20 seconds to keep ourselves and those around us safe.
A clinic helping people
Recently, a
Covid clinic has been setup in UAE by Zulekha hospitals to better address the
issue of persistent symptoms and Covid recovery. These clinics will help people
understand what they are exactly going through and help doctors treat their
patients in a right manner. Like all clinics, this setup would be also
sterilized and cleaned with disinfectant cleaner times and again to ensure
protection of patients and staff.
Treating patients
Persistent
symptoms that can worsen or normalize without any factors are breathlessness,
anxiety, memory loss, GI disturbances, nausea, and chest pain. Every symptom is
important when it comes to treating the disease completely therefore
pulmonologists posted in this clinic would assess the patient completely before
ordering any further tests and subsequent treatments. Even if needed, patients
can be referred to specialists for better outcomes.
