Cleaning School Floors: Cliffs Notes for Distributors
For people who are designated with cleaning school floors, no
job is harder than keeping it clean and that is the way jobs should be taken
as. For students, on the other hand it becomes easier to learn and play in an
environment that is relatively cleaner than in an environment that is dirty.
Keeping the school clean, free of germs and dirt is one of the most important
parts of the maintenance program. Though the maintenance program can be a long
one and it might be difficult to learn it right away but we have come up with
few tips that can help you keep those floors clean and shining.
Things to
understand
One thing should be understood right away and that is the
motive of maintenance programs, which is to keep the soil away and far from the
school building and floors. If one can arrange walk-off Matts that are 8’-12’
long and place it on both, inside and outside entrances with a space for 4 to 6
steps, then it becomes easy to keep dirt at bay. One also needs to consider
those areas that can see a lot of audience and efforts should be made
accordingly. Finding out the best floor cleaner
for the exact job is an important factor to be accounted.
What to do
first?
First and the foremost thing to do, is to map out your
inventory as to what is available. You should also know that different surfaces
require specific methods and products for an effective clean. Make sure that
you know all the dimensions so that calculating the square footage becomes
easy. When you are done with that you can estimate how much labor and time will
be required to get everything done. Areas such as hallways and classrooms are
the one that get the most traffic and therefore the flooring is usually made up
of Vinyl composition tile (VCT). Floor cleaners
with a neutral pH i.e. 7 would be an ideal choice to clean the environment.
Cleaning
different surfaces
For gymnasiums where flooring is made up of sheet rubber,
VCT, or wood you can use a water based solution with the dust mop and any oil
based solution should be avoided that could leave the floor slippery – wood
floor cleaner would be a good choice too. Maintaining hygiene in bathroom is necessary that's why for restrooms and locker rooms one
can use a disinfecting cleaner as closed quarters can harbor bacteria and other
germs. When you aim to clean kitchen and cafeterias then you should pick a
cleaner that also has degreasing properties. That should help you get best
results for porcelain tiles and finished flooring.
So these are some of the tips to keep school flooring clean.
